Christopher Britton, CA
Director, Tax and Estate Planning (Canada)
IDC Worldsource Insurance Network (IDC WIN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Britton, CPA, CA as Director, Tax and Estate Planning for Canada. In this newly created role, Christopher will assume responsibility for the development and advancement of IDC WIN’s Tax and Estate Planning (TEP) platform.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Christopher brings a wealth of tax planning experience. Directly prior to joining IDC WIN, he held the position of National Estate and Tax Planning Consultant with Canada Life, with a specialization in the owner-manager, high net worth and professional services markets. As an expert in both tax and advanced life insurance concepts in the larger case market, Christopher will bring his highly-developed presentation skills and knowledge resources to IDC WIN and its Advisors, as the firm expands into the TEP arena.
Christopher is an alumnus of Saint Mary’s University, graduating in 1994. He holds the CPA, CA designation (1996). He has been a guest speaker at various national conferences and has authored and lectured tax courses for both CPA Canada and CPA Nova Scotia. He is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU).
Leo Penney has over 30 years of experience in the underwriting community including working for a major reinsurance company where he was responsible for underwriting operations in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. This was followed by working directly with producers, their clients and advisors to resolve complex underwriting challenges, not only from a medical and financial underwriting perspective but also with respect to avocation, foreign travel and other risk factors.
He is a frequent speaker at industry events. Through his company, Innovative Underwriting Inc. Leo provides access to the U.S. and Bermuda markets on cases that are very highly rated or uninsurable in Canada, especially with respect to the older age market, foreign travel, and other scenarios surplus to the Canadian market.
Leo has taught Underwriting Selection of Risk for the Life Office Management Association. He is highly regarded speaker at numerous conferences in Canada, U.S., Caribbean and the U.K.
Alex Chan, RHU, CHS, CFP, CPCA, EPC, CFSB, CLU

Alex was born in Hong Kong and moved to Vancouver, BC at the age of two. Soon after attending Simon Fraser University, he entered into the Life Insurance Business as a career agent with Manulife Financial. Having had a successful start with many Million Dollar Round Table level production years in the agency system, Alex joined an independent Managing General Agency (MGA) as an advisor, manager and later as a partner.
Alex was the Managing Partner for Strategic Brokerage Services West LP, which was recently acquired by IDC Worldsource Insurance Network (IDC WIN) in December of 2012. IDC WIN is one of Canada’s largest and fastest growing MGA’s. Currently, he is the Marketing Director of BC and manages over 150 independent financial advisors. Amongst his many duties, Alex is still able to maintain his own profitable, personal book of business which allows him to be hands on and to provide the most current financial planning strategies for our advisors and their clients.
Alex is an asset to our company and has consistently grown our MGA business over the past 5 years while at the same time, ranks among the top 10% of our advisors for production. He is licensed with the Insurance Council of BC, and IDC WIN is a Member of The Financial Advisors Association of anada (ADVOCIS), as well as the Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies
